Our Story

Our Diagnosis

Four days before our son Ian’s first birthday, we were confronted with his diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. A parents worst fear had become real.

Our son was scheduled for surgery to place a Hickman central line catheter. We quickly learned current methods for protecting the delicate central line attached to his body.

This challenge was further compounded by our son’s young age and early mobility. We quickly discovered many issues while managing the central line catheter…

Our Challenges

Securing the device, without causing discomfort or skin injury to the wearer

Minimizing device exposure to potential contaminants

Preventing accidental pulling of the device

Protecting the device from damage

Maintaining consistent access to the patient and device for caregivers

Avoiding line tangles and crimps of the central line

Changing clothes regularly during treatment

Preventing complications, additional surgical procedures, and extended hospitalization

Our Solution

We realized that current methods for managing a central line came down to using surgical tape and safety pins. There had to be a better way.

The Comfort Line garment began as a way to manage our son’s central line catheter. It soon became clear that what evolved out of necessity, could help others maintain a central line.

During our stays at the hospital medical professionals appreciated the simplicity and functionality of the garment. With many helpful suggestions, we set out to apply all we had learned.

Most of us know little about treatments which require a central line catheter. Our mission is to provide a comfortable central line safety solution for patients and caregivers.

Through our experience, we hope to share the benefits of using a Comfort Line garment for central line patient safety.

Our infinite ThanksGratitude and Love to everyone who stayed by our side during this journey.
